Through History Challenge Updates 05/02/2023

I played a couple hours of the challenge today and here are some interesting things that happened:

Quentin MacAnna aged up into a teen. Quentin is the son of Williame Hoken who is the younger brother to the sim I'm currently playing, Randolph Hoken.

Michell MacAnna aged up into a child. She is the sister of Quentin MacAnna.

The most interesting thing I find that happened today. Finn Dolan died which gave my sim a negative moodlet. Finn Dolan is the father to my sim's brother's wife's sister's husband. It's crazy how sims who are barely related to each other and don't know each other at all with still grieve for each other.

Anyways, I hope to play this legacy more often now that I'll have more free time this week.

i may talk about him a lot, but it's never enough, so here are five new facts about the king of my blog aka grant 👑

when grant wants to feel something, he'll watch videos of the curiosity rover on mars singing happy birthday to itself 🎂 it's so incredibly sad but cute to him, so it immediately turns on the waterworks lolol 🥲

objectively, grant is NOT a car guy; he's 110% an airplane guy. however, he owns a car that makes him look like a car guy and gets him approached ALL THE TIME by people who want to talk cars. it's a 1960 ford galaxie and it looks like this, except i think it would be a nice shade of light, almost minty green or maybe blue (no, i haven't decided, and probably won't because there's no cc version of this car for the sims 4, so we'll never see it lol) 💚💙

why is that his car? 🚗 well, it was his grandparents' car, which he bought off them when they wanted to replace it; they have never had a garage or a carport in their entire life, so the car was exposed to the elements for fifty years, and it was, thus, fucked up. they were also tired of fixing it. however, it's a sentimental car because aoife and joseph met working on the same production line at a ford auto factory, and this car was the first one they bought as a couple in their marriage (even though aoife ironically does not know how to drive lmao). they wanted it gone but also didn't, you know, so grant bought it because he also didn't want to see it gone; he'd spent his whole life sandwiching into that backseat with 8 billion of his cousins. oh, aaandddd he bought it even though the necessary repairs were extensive, which he did all by himself with help from his grandparents and uncle (aka people who know shit about cars)

a shorter fun fact: he smokes luckies 🫢

grant has been on TV before! it was very brief, for like five seconds, but he was interviewed by his hometown news station after his high school hockey team won the state championship game one year and he was granted the MVP title. he was very nervous, and his friends ended up nicknaming him "mr. team effort" because his entire interview was him just saying things like, "oh, um, well, it was a team effort, and we worked really hard...together...as a team..."

so while listening to my throwbacks playlist a while back i realized it has been literal years since i watched an episode of glee, a show so near and dear to my heart it's impossible to talk about my media literacy without talking about it. and i was mildly thinking like huh it might be fun to do a full ass rewatch with liveblogs for each ep. really dive back into it. and tonight on my drive home i was thinking well i probably won't have time to do something like that until the new year and it occurred to me that omfg glee ended in 2015. it's literally been 10 years since the end of glee (first of all: jesus christ). which brings me back to well now i HAVE to do it and i'm going to make a full ass wordpress blog to do it on.

In the quiet town of Doodleville, there lived a peculiar doodle named Craig. Craig was no ordinary sketch; he was a cat with a mission. Despite his simple appearance, Craig harbored ambitions far grander than his humble origins suggested.

From a young age, Craig possessed an insatiable curiosity and a keen intellect. While his peers contented themselves with idle doodling, Craig spent his days studying the world around him, absorbing knowledge like a sponge. He learned about history, politics, and the intricacies of human behavior, all from the confines of his paper realm.

As Craig grew older, his ambitions expanded. He yearned for something more than the confines of Doodleville. He dreamed of venturing beyond the borders of his sketchbook and making his mark on the wider world.

One fateful day, Craig's opportunity arrived in the form of a stray pencil left unattended on the edge of his page. With a mixture of determination and excitement, Craig seized the pencil and began to draw. He sketched a doorway leading out of Doodleville, and with a final flourish, he stepped through into the unknown.

Eddy's silence echoed through the room, Helena rose from the bed and began to walk away, her footsteps echoing against the worn wooden floor. Startled, Eddy hurriedly rose to his feet, nearly toppling over the home remedy tea Helena had given him.

"W-wait a minute," Eddy stammered, his voice tinged with desperation.

Helena turned around, weariness etched upon her face. "I'm just tired, Eddy," she sighed, her voice laced with disappointment. "Ever since you decided to go out and revel, the burden of all the work has fallen squarely on my shoulders."

She continued, her voice laden with weariness and vulnerability. "So much has transpired in these few months, Eddy. It's been a relentless onslaught, and I can hardly bear the weight of it all. We're still grappling with the constant struggle to put food on the table, and the house… it's crumbling around us," Helena confessed, her voice trembling.

She fought to maintain her composure, willing her voice to remain steady. "I can feel my sanity slipping away, Eddy. The weight of it all is suffocating."

Eddy's heart sank as he listened to Helena's words and he extended an arm to touch her shoulder.

Eddy pulled Helena into his embrace, his strong arms enveloping her, providing a sense of security in the midst of their struggles. He could feel her tension, the weight of their hardships weighing heavily on her shoulders. Gently, he cradled the back of her head in his hand, his touch filled with tenderness and reassurance.

Eddy had been through this before and knew how to handle it but Helena didn't. He didn't realize how everything that happened had affected her.

"It's gonna be alright, my dear," he murmured softly. "I reckon life out here ain't easy, but we ain't quitters. We'll find a way to make it work. "

Helena smiled warmly, finding solace in Eddy's strong embrace.

"I promise, Helena," he vowed earnestly. "I'll never put you through that worry again. You mean more to me than anything in this world."

His declaration hung in the air and In that instant, Helena knew that she held a special place in Eddy's heart.
